2008 Grand Cru Champagne, Pierre Paillard
2008 Grand Cru Champagne, Pierre Paillard, Pierre Paillard
This is world class Champagne, coming exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards, from the unrivalled 2008 vintage.
Made from 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, Domaine Pierre Paillard are in the very fortunate position of owning only Grand Cru Vineyards in the top Village of Bouzy. The wine benefits from strict selection of only their best grapes and sees extended ageing to gain incredible depth and complexity.
The Paillard brothers are rising stars and their wines are future-classics for sure. Part of the so-called Grower Champagne movement, these guys tend to their own, highly-prized, vineyards, rather than buying-in grapes which is what the big-names do. This means full quality control, knowing exactly what’s going on in the vineyard, and incredible value as they aren’t spending their cash on global marketing campaigns!
There are three vintages that have got the Champagne world really talking since the Millennium - 2002, 2008 and 2012 - these are the years that everyone is going mad for. Now here's the thing; the best 2012's haven't been released yet, the best 2002's have all even been drunk, squirrelled away or are selling for silly prices. So get your hands on the 2008's while you can!
