Cahors 'Extra Libre', Chateau du Cedre, 2021/2022, Chateau du Cedre
Cahors in South-West France, just north of Toulouse, is the original home of Malbec. Of course, the Argentinians have rightly laid claim to it and produce great wines in Mendoza from this inky-purple grape, but it is in Cahors where the greatest expressions are found.
This wine is produced without any added materials such as sulphur or yeast to aid the winemaking process so we have a wine made entirely naturally just from pure fermented grapes. This results in an incredibly pure wine that is exceptionally expressive and seems to capture the essence of Malbec.
Chateau du Cedre have long pioneered organics in the region, and with this new cuvee, have taken the approach to another level, with impressive and consistent results.
Drink this with grilled meats or roast dinners.
Certified Organic wine.
