Moulin a Vent 'Chassignol', Smith-Chapel
Moulin a Vent 'Chassignol', Smith-Chapel, Cellar Next Door
Moulin-à-Vent "Chassignol" by Smith-Chapel is a distinguished Gamay from the Beaujolais cru of Moulin-à-Vent. Sourced from a single parcel at 400 meters altitude on a steep, northeast-facing slope in the village of Chénas, this wine reflects the unique terroir of pink granite and sandstone soils.
Smith-Chapel is the collaborative venture of Michele Smith and David Chapel. Michele, a former wine director from Brooklyn, New York, and David, son of renowned chef Alain Chapel, met in Beaujolais while David was working at Domaine Lapierre. Their shared passion for wine led them to establish Domaine Chapel in 2016, focusing on organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. Under the Smith-Chapel label, they explore high-altitude parcels in Beaujolais and the nearby Mâconnais region, producing wines that express the distinct character of each terroir.
