Magna Montis is a brand new project representing a growing number of Malbec producers seeking out more elegant styles in their wines, focusing on individual terroirs rather than blending across regions.
The grapes here are all from the Tuputango sub-region, where the soil contains high levels of Basalt, rich in iron and magnesium, helping to give the wine freshness and mineral character. Ageing in concrete tanks rather than oak barrels ensures the wine keeps a lovely tension between complexity and elegance.
The wine shows the classic plummy fruit profile of Malbec, with elegant spice and fine, delicate tannins.
Try this with a classic steak and chimichurri sauce.
85% Malbec, 8% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot.
