Collection: Fedellos do Couto
Curro Barreño and Jesús Olivares, are the winemakers behind family-owned estate Fedellos do Couto. They work alongside Pablo Soldavini, an agronomist & viticulturist and Luis Taboada, the estate owner & proprietor of Pazo do Couto, an ancient manor dating back to the 12th century.
Barreño & Olivares farm vineyards on terraces along the steep slopes of the rivers Sil and Bibei in Ribeira Sacra, the sites are planted with a myriad of native grape varieties with which they create a number of single varietal & blended cuvées to truly express this rugged landscape.
On these steep slopes all work is done by hand, their wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts, at low temperatures to favour a gentle extraction of colour and phenolics. They favour old neutral barrels and are bottled unfined, unfiltered and with the addition of low quantities of sulphur.
All of their wines share an Atlantic freshness and a slatey minerality that make these wines unmistakably Galician.
