Gruner Veltliner, Brundlemayer, 2022/2023

This tasty Gruner comes from the Kamptal region of Austria. Grown on impossibly steep terraces, the southerly exposure helps ripen the grapes, and the steep slopes of these uniquely positioned vineyards help to keep the soil well-drained vines dont like having soggy roots! The wines are certified organic, and the vineyards are grown on Granite soils which gives the mineral edge to the wine.

Brundle Mayer is a fairly big winery for us; we usually work with smaller wineries, where we might know the winemakers, and only a few thousand bottles of each Cuvee are produced. But the wines are exceptionally good, and they are one of the early adopters of organic farming on a larger scale - and that we applaud!

Gruner Veltliner has a unique profile and often has a spicy, peppery edge. For this reason, it's an excellent match for lightly spiced foods.
