La Feu, Domaine du Gringet, 2022, Domaine du Gringet
Le Feu is a single vineyard with red marl soils. Vines planted between 1970s and 1980s
Domaine du Gringet has one clear mission: to put the rare, aromatic Gringet grape on the world stage. This distinctive white Alpine variety spans just 22 hectares, most of which belong to Domaine du Gringet—formerly Domaine Belluard, established by the visionary Dominique Belluard, who passed away in 2021. Today, four partners—Raphaël Bennour, Miguel Sarzier, Rhône winemaker Franck Balthazar, and his former cellar master Vincent Ruiz—carry forward Dominique’s legacy, crafting single-vineyard still wines of immense depth and terroir-driven character.
These are true terroir wines of extraordinary depth and personality, and the vineyard expressions showcase the full spectrum of the character of this variety, including citrus fruit, floral notes like absinthe and hyssop, gentian root and liquorice spice coupled with freshness and crystalline minerality.
Winemaking is the same for all wines with grapes direct pressed before the juice is settled in contact with the air. Fermentation takes place in concrete eggs and all wines go through malolactic fermentation before the wine is aged on its lees for 11 months. All wines are bottled without sulphur, filtration or fining and then rest for 12 months in bottle before release.
