If you love Cru Beaujolais, you need to try this!
Baptiste Nayrand runs this small domaine in Coteaux Lyonnais, which is half way between Beaujolais and the Northern Rhone. Made from Gamay you get the wonderful purity of fruit you expect from this lately venerable grape, paired with an intensity you might expect to find in the great wines of the Northern Rhone. The wine is light to medium body, but just so full of intensity and interest.
Made in the natural mould, although we're not on the weird and wonderful side of things, this is very fine wine indeed. Grown on Granite soils, and aged in old barrels with no additions or fining.
