This wine is truly unique! Theres’s a very saline nose with green olives and brine. On the palate its intensely savoury with a long, sour finish that’s fresh and pithy. At only 9% ABV there’s a remarkable amount of flavour here. Given the southerly heat in Campania, it’s a testament to these old vineyards that the wines here possess such balance.
Monte di Grazia was started in 2004 by Alfonso Arpino – in a unique spot inland from the Amalfi coast. The vineyard parcels that Alfonso secured on starting the winery are some of the oldest in Italy – ranging from 100-300 years of age. They encompass native Campanian vines such as Piedirosso and Tintore, and Ginestra, Pepella, and Bianca Tenera. Due to the unique location of the vines and volcanic soils, the area is a treasure trove of ancient vineyards that have stood the test of time.
