This is Sangiovese from the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Sangiovese can often achieve incredibly deep and rich wines. Although English winemaker, Tim Manning, has coaxed out the more pretty and floral notes of this noble grape variety. So we get a very beautiful, perfumed expression of the region, one that almost has a kind of Pinot Noir-like quality with a core of soft red fruit. It's still certainly Sangiovese, and it's still got that wonderful acidity, and tannic structure, it's just a bit more gentle and lovely, rather than brash and powerful.
