Sierra de Gredos is, along with Galicia, perhaps the region we are most excited about in Spain. Old vines, a unique mountain climate, and exciting young winemakers are producing vibrant and expressive wines that promise to be future classics.
The wine is made from 100% Garnahca, which can often be quite rich and heady, but here in the high mountain vineyards it finds a softer character. Floral, and elegant there are notes of wild strawberries and a touch of spice. Its medium body, with a hint of structure and stony mineral notes on the finish.
Telmo Rodriguez is a household name in the Spanish wine scene, but in 1994 when he started his company, he was very much a revolutionary. A key part of the "new-wave" Spanish wine movement, he seeks out unique, forgotten vineyards, focussing efforts on single-site wines that are expressive of their origins.
