Three bottles bottles of deliciousness from the home of wine!
Wine has been made in Georgia since 6000BC! That's the earliest known record of winemaking, so let's just say they've figured out how to make grapes taste good. Here we present three bottles - two amber wines and a red - showcasing the best of native Georgian grape varieties.
Amber wines are the heart and soul of Georgian wine - white grapes are loaded into Qvervri, giant clay vessels burried in the ground, and left to ferment in contact with the skins for up to six months. This gives the white grapes a golden hue, and add complexity and structure to the wine. Enjoy these wines lightly chilled.
These are a must-try for any wine lover!
Khikhvi Qvevri, Ivane Nareklishvili (amber)  - £24.00 > £21.60
Khikhvi is an ancient Georgian grape variety produced in the traditional Georgian Qvevri. It's a gorgeous wine full of ripe stone fruits and floral aromatics. Tasting with Ivane, was the highlight of our trip to Georgia, his wines were all so delicious and expressive that it was hard not to fall in love with them all.
Kisi Amber Wine, Daskivili (amber) - £25.00 > £22.50
This is a cellars classic - a  skin contact wine that is truly beguiling and brings to mind dried apricots, marzipan and exotic spices. It’s pure golden nectar. Made in large  Qvevri, the wine is perhaps one of the greatest examples of its kind coming outta Georgia today.
Saperavi, Dakishvili (red) - £27.00 > £24.30
Saperavi is Georgia's leading red grape and here is creates an extremely complex wine that's perfect for a rainy Sunday. It's got rich, ripe fruits and there’s an earthy note that evolves with time in the glass. Get this one decanted early to really open it up. Again, the wine is raised in Qvevri which help soften the tannins and give the wine a beautiful texture.
